Angekommen in Prerow schließ ick die Tür zu meener kleenen gemütlichen Fewo auf und es fühlt sich an wie nach Hause kommen. Zehn Tage Urlaub liegen vor mir, die Sehnsucht nach dem Weststrand ist riesig. Also Fahrrad beim Lieblingsfahrradverleih geholt, ruff uffs Radel und ab durch den Darßwald an den Weststrand.
Arriving in Prerow, I unlock the door to my cozy little vacation apartment, and it feels just like coming home. Ten days of vacation lie ahead of me, and my longing for the West Beach is immense. So, I pick up a bike from my favorite rental shop, hop in the saddle, and head straight through the Darß Forest to the West Beach.
Menschen sind so gut wie keene unterwegs, dafür hat so manch Getier meenen Weg gekreuzt.
There are next to no people out and about—but plenty of critters have crossed my path.

Weil einfach nur schön zieht´s mich immer wieder zum Sonnenuntergang an den Weststrand. Diesmal hat mir ein Sandregenpfeifer Gesellschaft geleistet.
Simply because it is so beautiful, I am drawn back to the West Beach time and again at sunset. This time, a sand plover kept me company.
Und natürlich is der Sonnenaufgang an Prerows Seebrücke auch wunderschön.
And, of course, the sunrise at Prerow's pier is also beautiful.
Ein weiteres Highlight meines Urlaubs war die Tour zum Pramort. Gestartet von meener Fewo in Prerow ging´s, dank E-Bike easy, immer uffn Deich bis zur östlichsten Ecke der Halbinsel Zingst. Durch weite Landschaft, die geprägt is von Schilf und toten Bäumen. Ganz viel Platz für die Natur und nur ein paar Wege für die Menschen.
Another highlight of my vacation was the tour to Pramort. Setting off from my vacation rental in Prerow—and making easy work of it thanks to my e-bike—I followed the dike all the way to the easternmost tip of the Zingst peninsula. The route led through a vast landscape characterized by reeds and dead trees—a place with plenty of room for nature, and just a few paths for people.
Unwirklich, und doch gibt´s viel zu entdecken. Nur fotografiert sich dit schlecht beim Fahrrad fahren. Anhalten, Rucksack uff, Wasserflaschen raus, Kamera aus de Tasche friemeln. Bin ick fertig mit fotografieren Kamera wieder rin in die Tasche, Wasserflaschen druff, Rucki zu, weiterfahren. Ein paar Hundert Meter weiter entdecke ich das nächste Motiv und alles geht von vorne los. Na ja, schnell hab ick dit mit dem Fotografieren gelassen.
Ein Muss ist ein Abstecher zur Hohen Düne. Strahlend weiß leuchtet der Sand, türkis schimmert die Ostsee, was für ein Anblick.
It feels surreal, and yet there is so much to discover. The only trouble is, it’s hard to take photos while riding a bike. You have to stop, open your backpack, pull out your water bottles, and fumble the camera out of your bag. Once I’m done shooting, I have to tuck the camera back into its case, stow the water bottles on top, zip up the pack, and ride on. A few hundred meters later, I spot the next photo opportunity—and the whole process starts all over again. Well, needless to say, I quickly gave up on trying to take pictures. A detour to the *Hohe Düne* is an absolute must. The sand glows a brilliant white, the Baltic Sea shimmers in shades of turquoise—what a sight!

Ne Schiffstour entlang des Prerowstroms steht auch schon ne Weile auf meener Liste janz oben. Also nix wie ruff uff den Schaufelraddampfer. Eine tolle Fahrt durch die Natur, die zu einem weiteren Highlight wird, als ein Seeadler zum Greifen nahe neben dem Schiff auftaucht und uns sogar noch fliegend ein Stück begleitet. WOW!
A boat tour along the Prerowstrom has been right at the top of my list for quite a while now. So, without further ado—all aboard the paddle steamer! It was a fantastic journey through nature—one that turned into an even bigger highlight when a white-tailed eagle appeared right alongside the boat, close enough to touch, and even flew along with us for a stretch. WOW!
Leider geht auch der schönste Urlaub zu Ende. Zehn erholsame Tage, in denen ein Highlight das nächste gejagt hat. Zehn Tage, in denen ich auf dieser wunderschönen Halbinsel Orte entdeckt habe, die auch in zukünftigen Urlauben genau wie der Weststrand zum „Pflichtprogramm“ zählen werden.
Die Sehnsucht nach diesem wunderschönen Fleckchen Erde ist nicht weniger geworden. Im Gegenteil. Kaum wieder zurück inne Heimat wandern meene Gedanken zum nächsten Urlaub nach Prerow …
Sadly, even the most wonderful vacation must come to an end. Ten relaxing days, during which one highlight followed another. Ten days spent discovering places on this beautiful peninsula—spots that, just like the West Beach, will be an absolute "must" on future vacations.
My longing for this beautiful little corner of the world has not diminished. Quite the opposite. No sooner have I returned home than my thoughts are already wandering toward my next vacation in Prerow...
